Vice President, Public Affairs

Position Summary:

The vice president will ensure our clients’ public sector objectives are met through a combination of legislative and executive branch lobbying, strategic communications, business development support, policy analysis and coalition efforts throughout Massachusetts.

The vice president will work in a team environment and serve multiple clients’ needs simultaneously.  The successful candidate will develop strategies to meet the clients’ objectives as well as lead and coordinate the work by his or her colleagues to successfully implement these strategies. He or she must exhibit sound political and personal judgement, build trust with the clients over time, and then be viewed as a strategic advisor by those clients.

Essential/Primary Responsibilities:

  • Provide leadership, strategy and direction
  • Develop and guide new business strategies
  • Expertise in all aspects of strategic communications, message development, message delivery and proactive and reactive media relations outreach
  • Provide high-level strategic advice and counsel regarding policy trends and implications for the client(s), including difficult or crisis situations
  • Exceptional judgment, the ability to work with multiple demands, strong project management and organizational skills
  • A sophisticated understanding of how the Massachusetts public policy arena works; possess credibility based on experience/service from working within the related sectors
  • Excellent writing ability with ability to craft and deliver persuasive messaging and related collateral materials, simplifying complex legislative, regulatory, legal or other general issues.

Qualifications/Background:

  • Minimum of a bachelor’s degree in a relevant field (i.e. public policy, economics, etc.)
  • 5+ years of work in roles in either public policy or political campaigns
  • He or she will also hold significant campaign experience, a working knowledge of the legislative process and strong contacts in Massachusetts state & local government. However, as critical as this experience are attributes: we seek a person who is client centric, prioritizes well, follows through on his or her commitments, has an intense interest in all things political and governmental, is a creative problem solver, and builds relationships for the long term.

Senior Public Affairs Associate

Overview and Responsibilities

Rasky Partners, a leading government affairs and public relations firm is seeking an experienced and motivated Sr. Public Affairs Associate.

Position Summary:

The Sr. Public Affairs Associate will be working on our Public Affairs team and involved in the development, coordination and execution of government relations and public affairs activities on behalf of a wide range of clients representing many sectors. 

Responsibilities will include, but not be limited to:

  • Active participation on client accounts
  • Draft and edit written materials including client reports, policy updates, client meeting briefings, testimony, and presentations
  • Cultivate relationships with key public sector decision makers
  • Research public policy issues
  • Identify, review and track legislation and policy at the state and municipal levels
  • Organize and schedule client meetings with government officials
  • Represent the firm at civic, political and industry related events
  • Active participation in the firm’s business development strategies

Qualifications/Background:

  • A. or B.S. required
  • 5-7 years of experience in related field (state government, municipal government)
  • Knowledge and understanding of state & municipal government process and decision makers
  • Strong writing skills
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Political campaign experience
