Overview
Beyond Walls, a public art and place-making nonprofit based in Lynn, Massachusetts, is dedicated to activating and improving public spaces to provide safer, more vibrant, and inclusive communities. To help introduce the organization in 2017, attract visitation, interest, and investment, and galvanize the community, Beyond Walls, with input from area residents, prepared to install large-scale murals, vintage neon art, and colorful lighting throughout Lynn’s downtown district as part of its Phase I initiatives. Beyond Walls’ leadership recognized the value and importance of media attention and sought our support for all related programs, events, and activities.
Our Work
Eight years later, our team continues to help raise awareness of Beyond Walls and its expanded reach and influence (in cities across Massachusetts and New Hampshire) through a comprehensive communications campaign that includes media training, messaging, content development, media outreach, and profile building for the organization’s founder.
Results
In the first year of our engagement alone, we secured placements in/on over 55 print, broadcast, and digital media, plus an additional 36 stories which appeared in the Lynn Daily Item, an influential “hometown” outlet. Since then, coverage continues to highlight organizational milestones, the impact of the murals, and other art and design installations that contribute to a safer and more attractive community setting, promote founder Al Wilson as an influencer and entrepreneur, and position Lynn and other gateway cities destinations for visitors. We also secured an interview for Wilson who will be featured in a book on innovation which will be published in January of 2026 by Columbia University Press.
