Overview

New England’s higher education landscape is one of the most competitive in the country.  Massachusetts alone is home to 115 colleges and universities, 52 of which are based in and around Boston.  And that competition extends to the pursuit of media coverage.  Despite the concentration of colleges and universities in its coverage area, The Boston Globe has only two reporters assigned to the higher education beat. So what does it take to garner attention for a small, private liberal arts college located in a Boston suburb?  The answer is media relations, with an emphasis on thought leadership.

Our work

Our team has worked to promote Newton, Massachusetts- based Lasell College, its mission, programs, initiatives, faculty and staff through traditional public relations tools and digital media. In addition, by collaborating with college public relations staff, we have identified faculty members and administrators who can serve as expert resources for media on diverse subjects including the cost of higher education, teacher diversity, business,  terrorism, senior living, fashion, politics, casinos, and elections.

To position Lasell’s senior administrators, faculty and even students as thought leaders, we worked to develop and secure placement of opinion pieces that reflect their areas of expertise, address timely news stories, and pose thoughtful questions. Op Eds, blogs and other commentaries have appeared in The Boston Globe, The Boston Business Journal, University Business, and other trade and weekly newspapers.
