Robert Sherman is a senior advisor and advisory board member at Rasky Partners, where he plays a key role in business development and strategic growth opportunities to help the firm continue bolstering its growing client portfolio in the U.S. and internationally.
Prior to joining the firm, Sherman served as United States Ambassador to the Republic of Portugal from 2014-2017. He traveled the country speaking to local government and business leaders and worked to promote bilateral investment by expanding opportunities for American executives and investors in the country and raising the profile of Portuguese innovation and entrepreneurship. He focused heavily on international security issues as well, including strengthening engagement in cybersecurity, narcoterrorism and NATO. After arriving in Portugal, Sherman and his wife also launched Connect to Success, the Embassy’s flagship initiative in women’s entrepreneurship.
In honor of his work in Portugal, President Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa awarded him the Grand Cross of the Order of Prince Henry the Navigator in March 2017.
Before his ambassador post, Sherman was a founding member of the Boston office of Greenberg Traurig. He holds a bachelor’s degree in Political Science from the University of Rochester and a J.D. from Boston University School of Law. He is married to entrepreneur and lawyer, Kim Sawyer, and has two adult children.
