Former U.S. Ambassador to Portugal and Massachusetts Secretary of Labor & Workforce Development Join Firm as Consultants and Members of Advisory Board

BOSTON (July 20, 2017) – Rasky Partners announced today that Robert Sherman and Ron Walker will join the firm as senior advisors following their most recent posts as United States Ambassador to the Republic of Portugal and Massachusetts Secretary of Labor & Workforce Development, respectively.

Sherman returns to Boston from Portugal having served as a founding member of the Boston office of Greenberg Traurig, a large international law firm.  At Rasky, Sherman will play a key role in looking at strategic growth opportunities locally, nationally and internationally.

“We are privileged to have a professional of Bob Sherman’s stature join our firm,” said Larry Rasky, CEO and chairman of Rasky Partners. “Bob is a skilled legal mind and distinguished diplomat who possesses high character and a sharp business acumen. He is a tremendous addition to our team in Boston and Washington, and we look forward to harnessing his unique insight for clients as our firm continues its expansion.” Ambassador Sherman will be assisting the firm’s rapidly growing international relations practice, as well as its traditional work providing litigation support, reputation management services, and crisis communications, especially for its expanding efforts regarding data breach and cyber security.

Walker will also play a major role in business development and growth opportunities at Rasky Partners. His hiring comes as the firm aims to continue strengthening its client portfolio in both its Boston and Washington, D.C. offices. Walker will be primarily assisting in growing the firm’s client portfolio in financial services and workforce development. He will play a role in firm’s business operations as well after having previously served as a consultant to the company during his tenure as founder and president of Next Street Financial LLC, which provides capital and strategic advice to growing businesses.

“We are honored to have the Secretary join our firm,” said Larry Rasky. “Ron is a keen businessman who was an outstanding government official and is the true definition of a team player. His drive for innovation and experience in strategic growth management, combined with his long history of building strong businesses will serve as an invaluable asset to our firm and our clients. He has been a friend of the firm for a long time and we are thrilled he’s formally joining the team.”

Prior to joining Rasky Partners, Walker served as the Massachusetts Secretary of Labor & Workforce Development from 2015 to July 1, 2017, where he restructured the Department of Unemployment Assistance, oversaw the state’s largest workforce since 1976, and played a key role in the state’s workforce development initiatives.

Before joining Rasky Partners, Sherman served as the United States Ambassador to Portugal from 2014-2017, where he prioritized bilateral engagement and 21st century economic diplomacy as he traveled the country speaking to local government and business leaders and worked to create expanded opportunities for American businesses. As ambassador, he also focused heavily on ways in which the U.S. and Portugal together with other allies could leverage their capabilities on issues of international security, including strengthening engagement in such areas as cybersecurity, narcoterrorism and NATO. Soon after their arrival in Portugal, Sherman and his wife, Kim Sawyer, established Connect to Success, the Embassy’s flagship initiative in women’s entrepreneurship. In honor of Sherman’s work in the country, Portuguese President Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa awarded him the Grand Cross of the Order of Prince Henry the Navigator in March 2017.
